Mane and tail connect to shadows ( like what ever they are close to )
can have wings ( bat wings)
can have horn (curved horn)

Abilities:
Have the ability to move between shadows ( if a shadow is connected to another then they can move without being seen)

typically 3 or 4 types of gems will grow on a pony (but their have been known to be ones with  less than 3 types )

the gems can be removed ( they grow back)
though if all gems are removed the ponies die
